How to Enter

We accept animated shorts from artists of all skill levels from anywhere in the world. If you can animate, you can participate! Submit your entries online using Withoutabox. Please be sure to follow these guidelines:

  • Medium: Any form of digital or traditional animation.
  • Run time: Maximum of 10 minutes, including credits.
  • Format: QuickTime (H.264) or WMV file at 1280×720 maximum.
  • Entry fee: see our listing on Withoutabox
  • Deadlines: discounts for early entries... more at Withoutabox.

Your submission must be completely animated. We will not accept demo reels, samples, or works in progress. Your piece should be complete.

This festival is a family-oriented event and most of our animations would be given a "G" rating. We will accept animations with a "PG" rating at our discretion. Some of those "PG" films may only be aired during our evening show times. We will not accept animations that are excessively violent or obscene. If we decide not to accept your animation, you will be notified. If you have any doubts, please ask before submitting an entry.

 Submitting Your Entry

First upload a PREVIEW Copy or your animation using the Withoutabox Secure Online Screener tool. The festival committee will review this for acceptance. If we cannot preview your animation before the final deadline, we may not be able to accept your entry.

Once you are notified of your acceptance, you must send an EXHIBITION QUALITY Copy of your animation entry to be received no later than the first week of August. Send it via electronic service. Details will be included in the notifications. If we do not receive your animation in time, we cannot showcase it during the festival.

Exhibition Quality Copy Guidelines: Maximum resolution is 1280×720 with a square pixel aspect ratio.  We recommend using H.264 compression (Quicktime) or WMV3 (WMV). We will not accept entries that we cannot view, and we will not accept video formatted to automatically play as a standard DVD or VHS cassette.

Other details, including method of payment and early-bird discounts can be found at our listing at Withoutabox.

If you’d like, you can also send us some promotional materials for your animation, such as concept art, posters, or brochures. We may use these to promote your work and the festival. There is no limit to the number of animations you may enter.
